It reminds me of a John Lennon song. No one, in-particular, just the style of certain things he did: the level and ambience on the vocal; the irreverent simplicity of the song. Hmmmm
I listened all the way through, twice. It hits me positively, except that:
There are minor issues with time. Needs some editing to unify certain hits after the choruses. The groove with the two guitars gets old. The bass could use some invention, later.
I think you could leave this recording as it is. The vox doesn't merit a redo. I like it as it is.
What I'd do is add elements: some things like harmony vox, a tack-hammer piano playing a groove in-between the guitars; some other instrument like mando, fiddle, harmonica, acordeon playing a theme when the vox is on holiday..... Which is often There;s a lot of space for more themes...feature instruments playing structured, melodic things...or a Django Reinhardt-esque guitar solo.....there's a Gypsy feel to this.
I might level down bass guitar and kit a bit. Not much: one scoche only.
I like this song. I like the vocal. I would listen to some old Django records to build on the Gypsy in it!! Especially the guitar rythms.
