Hi...I'm new to the forum as well as recording. I'm hoping someone could help me out?:)

I have a Line 6 Toneport UX2 as an interface and it comes with Pod Farm (Plug-in). I'm using Garageband as my DAW.

My question is: Should I set levels using the mixer that is in Pod Farm or should I set it in my DAW? I'm recording a dry signal so that I have the abilty to tweak different amp models, etc.

Also, should I stay within the -6 to -3db range or is it ok to just eyeball it by watching the meter to avoid clipping?

Thanks for your help!!!!

Use your Pod interface to set the levels. Aim for -18 to 12db for your average signal, peaks are ok at -6. Then do a search on setting levels. There's been a few recent ones that will help you understand the reasoning behind said values.

Cheers,
Ryan

Thank you.

Sorry about that- after my OP I saw a few other "levels" questions in previous pages that were informative.
