So i have this dream of havin' a nice RV to travell across country. Then i thought to myself how genius it woul'd be to combine a recording studio with it. With my budget i could get maybe a late 80' to mid 90' RV ( econoline/fleetwood).

But a lot of questions comes with this idea..i'll try to focus on a few but i'll be happy with any kind of info you'll give me.

1.Is it even make sense to record with the noise of an old generator in the back? I make folk music wich is pretty quiet. Maybe with metal music it will get along, but not with my
stuff..what are the options of handling it?

2. What about acoustic?is it that horrible? or maybe a few acoustic foams will do a decent job?

3. Is there enough space in these RV's for all the equipment ? I guess it's a question of a man's comfot habits and i'm not spoiled about it but i guess i'll have to dump some of the fornitures to get enough space.

Keep in mind that im not expecting for a marvalous quality of sound..i just need a decent set to record and promote my music.
My set will include probably 1-2 mic's+stands, two acoustic guitars, a small steel guitar, 25/49 keys midi controller, acoustic foams, sound board, laptop, 1meter long table and a chair.

Cheers

In regards to the generator, you could always get a portastudio and track off battery power. Once you have your tracks recorded, do your mixing with the generator turned back on. That takes care of some noise issues.

I think your biggest problem will be acoustics verses noise. But I don't see it impossible, just more of a challenge.

Your not gonna be able to track while driving down the road, too loud, and if your parked you can plug your rig in to shore power, an outlet. A generator is only really needed for boon docking, camping in the middle of no where, and maybe occasionally while driving to run anything that needs 120v. Like anywhere outside noise is going to be a huge challenge .

I have seen a couple of YouTube videos where this exact thing had been done. For what you are looking to do, I would say it is perfectly possible and what a way to find inspiration for song writing, not just the journey itself but the locations you will be able to get to as well.
