What do you guys think... I'm looking at buying a MOTU 828 MRK II and a an apple power book g4 for recording a personal projects and some band demos.
Heres the specs for the laptop

Specifications

512MB DDR333 (256MB built-in + 256MB SO-DIMM)
80GB Ultra ATA drive @ 5400rpm
8x SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW)
AirPort Extreme Card
Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English
1.5GHz PowerPC G4

NVIDIA GeForce FX GO 5200 with 64MB DDR Video Memory

12.1-inch TFT Display

I'm not sure what editing program i'd run though motu said it comes with software... but i'm guessing i'll pirate logic pro or something else like cubebase ...

I've also looked at a used vs840gx roland and AKG C 3000 B mic for 625 canadian $

should i go all out I'm probably going to need a laptop in the anyways so I figured if i might as well invest a few more 100$ in a motu or should i keep it simple and save on in an all in one digital recorder since its for personal projects? Whats ur opinion on it all it would be greatly appreciated.
Thx Gr3g

It is usually the sound card that is the weak point in a notebook recording setup...

If you plan to resort to pirating software after having the $$ for a MOTU and a Mac ..... I say just get a SIAB digital recorder and not break the law.
