Are you using just what came with cakewalks program or did you buy the full version? If I read all this right it's from Drumtrax? What I got in my machine is just a demo I hope.

Flash - I am just using what was supplied with Sonar. You are right, it is a 3rd party program (don't recall who makes it, but Drumtrax sounds correct).

So far as I know it is not a demo version, though. At least I haven't come across any limitations. However, I do know that you can purchase additional drum patterns to go with it.

I haven't bought any myself. Generally I can find something close to what I need among the existing patterns, then I print it to a midi track and manually edit the midi track using Piano Roll View.

dachay2tnr, what I see Is 5 diff. sets of diff. types. Can you reset tempo's and stuff like that?

Looks like we're on the board at the same time, flash, so we can cover this quickly.

You should see a variety of "styles" (country, dance, hard rock, soft rock, latin, etc.). Within each style are numerous "patterns".

You start by selecting a style, and then you choose a pattern from that style. The tempo is set by Sonar/Cakewalk. Session Drummer will automatically play in time to the BPM that you have established within your Sonar project. That's what makes it cool. It always plays in time (assuming you have played the song to the project's time signature and BPM). So it's just a matter of finding a style/pattern that works well with your song.

That's good, So if I have my song at say 80 bpm, even though the pattern I pick is 120 bpm sonar knows what to do? Then I can break that down using the .cal program, and even add more stuff at that time if I want, or I could go get another pattern save that to a diff. track and combine the two?

Most of what you said is correct, except there is no "native" BPM associated with the pattern. The pattern plays to whatever BPM has been established in the Sonar project.

Yes you can combine patterns, and you can edit the tracks (after you print them). You can get a whole Santana thing going here :)

Gotta run. Need to eat and get ready for the NETS!! Good luck.
