sequencing software

Does anyone have a recommendation of a simple MIDI sequencing software similar to MOTU Freestyle that is supported by Mac OS X? I don't need anything as big as Digital Performer since we have the Roland VS 2480 for audio editing recording. I just want to record to MIDI and be able to edit the notes in the graphic piano roll editor.
 
How about the scaled down version of Cubase SX? (I dont think its called Cubasis anymore)

Do you need virtual instruments?

If not, look into Finale or Coda
