First of all, this is my first post, but I am not a newbie. I use an mpc to sequence (and also cubase and fruityloops). When one sequences in real time, obviously the duration of each note will be different. Is there a way to make each note's duration equal to a whole, half, quater or eighth note's duration when I quantizes, without actually going to each note and changing the duration?

uhhh.. that's often the time when us others use Gate instead... but I don't know if the mpc can do that...

well actually the usage differs slightly from machine to machine.. but it works like this.
You have yo-self a sync reference where you build up yo melody ( :D yo...) ..
Let's take a pattern based on 16/16 division... Now gate is then an easy way to determine the lenght of each note.
a gate of 100% would be a note of 1/16 length while a gate of 50% would be 1/32... very easy..
Notes can of course also be longer than 1/16 unless we're talking a real st000pid sequencer...

So if a make me a cutie sequence for my novation supernova, I can easily gate the entire sequence at my liking... sometimes 50% sounds better, other times 75%... i love gate...

see that's it.. i don't know how to perform this on the mpc...
