I recently sent my 1880 in for repair to get the chanel 7 preamp fixed. So I had a distinct scatch on the side of my 1880 when I sent it in for repair to Roland. When I got it back, I was inspecting it and the scratch is gone. The machine looks new but my same hard drive is in it and every thing. Could Roland have just sent me a new one? Would they do that?

They could have just replaced the whole top piece with the electronics. It is probably easier than trying to work on a small preamp part. They just replace your hard-drive and effects cards and sent it back to you. Alot of computer companies do this. Many machines that I work on, I just replace a whole unit instead of getting in it and trying to trouble shoot.
