Oldbie
Going through some boxes here at work, I came across this mic.
After researching it a bit, I discover it is primarily a live vocal mic, however, with my "studio  " location in a noisy, small apartment, I was wondering if it might be a good choice to eliminate some of the background noise I get with my LDC (as it has a super-cardioid pattern).

Anyone with experience using this mic in a non-live setting (esp. vocals, close mic'ing acoustic gtr, or an amp) ?

Going to play with it anyway, but just looking for some tricks or tips.

Cheers,
mike

Actually, I think that most "live" mics are designed to pick up less indirect noise, since on stage you'd be surrounded by amps and drums and whatnot.

A live mic might be good for use in a small studio where you can't separate amps from drums, and other noise.

You should try it out, though, and see what it sounds like.

....

Sorry, I guess I don't have any actual suggestions.

Well first efforts at experimentation and I'll give it a hesitant thumbs up.
While I'm not sure if I like the way my voice sounds with it, it sure did cut down on the background noise. Live, it would be a great mic.

Lots of proximity effect when you eat the mic, but just perfect anywhere 6 -12 inches back. Couldn't get too far off-axis though.

Next to try my acoustic...

This is fun ! I love new toys...
