I will probably buy one of these. Any comments are appreciated. I'm looking for the best isolation (for playing/recording drums etc), but also for quality sound (reference). Thanks!
I have the 280s and they have real good isolation and I dig the sound. I use them to track drums. Search for it because there have been a lot of threads about it.
The quality of the Extreme Isolation cans is mediocre soundwise. The Extremes fit on the cranium with a vise-like grip -- it does hurt the head. I have a pair and never use them.
Your other choice or choices will be far more comfortable and have better sound quality.
Been using the EX29 for a few months now. Love them. Did try the HD280 but kept slipping of at the sessions. Maybe I play too hard ;-)
Sound is different - it is almost flat without any flattering frequencies boosted. I use it for tracking and the occasional mixdown at night in my home studio. Good way to cross check the mix without worrying about it much.
Maybe the construction has improved. I have no problems with mine watching DVD.
