Anyone know anything about this mic? Is it just a 409 re-numbered or are there significant differences? Many studios have them so I thought they my be good.

Its not a 409...
its a damn fine mic, mine I find to be pretty smooth for a dynamic, with kind of a thick top (most likely the mids talking there) and it definately has a certain character and its not good for a lot of things, but when it is, its real nice. Makes for great toms, and can be real great on some dirty guitars too, if you like its sound. It is a colored mic, definately has some personality.
I say, for $100 new now, why not. Add it to the collection. It can create some very thick sounds when mixed in with a second mic (condensor)

I might give it a shot in the future. I am really looking forward to getting an SM7 though. After that I really want a Beyer M201, but the SP C4's might come before that. I am such a gear slut!
