Sends with Benefits: Effect channels in Cubase

I came across this great video that explains how to use effect sends in Cubase.

I have only used direct effect inserts per channel and I wanted to learn how to use effect sends and why I should use them - this video really helped me understand it so I though I would post it here.



Groups work similar and are good for controlling multiple tracks. I will be using groups for my guitar tracks when I use double or triple tracking with guitars - with a group I don't have to go in and adjust each volume slider for every guitar track, I can get a good mix and then control the overall volume with a group.

I just started playing with this after the post about stereo FX on mono channels in the noob forum. My screw ups are also much more complex now. Thanks Cubase!

Yeah, that thread threw me off too. I now know that inserted effects in Cubase, are 'not' in stereo. Yes a stereo delay will throw left and right signal to respective sides, but an inserted reverb just sounds like ass. I typically use a FX channel anyway, but realized that my occasional use of an insert is returning stupid results. Learning curve continues.....

I'm currently trying to wrap my head around what the point of control room is. I know you can create headphone mixes and have different routs for multiple monitors but other than that I don't get the point.

I finally did some messing around with getting some outboard compressors patched in, but even that was kind of a pain and had a learning curve.

As good as I am at this program there are still things that make me go ERRRRR DERP?
