Hi there.

Wondered if it is possible to apply a standard send effect to a midi track as I can to Audio tracks or do I have to bounce the midi down to audo before I can apply a send effect (A third party freebie - ambience reverb).

Thank you

The answer should be obvious to you.

Audio effects are designed to have a result to audio. MIDI is not audio. There are only a few ways you can add effects to MIDI.

  • If the MIDI sequence controls a software synth within your computer
  • If you send the audio from the MIDI divice into the computer
  • If you use MIDI effects instead of audio effects. MIDI effects tweak the MIDI parameters in real time without destroying the original patch program. This is more of an effect emulation but does do the trick.

Thanks Carl.

I thought this was the case but posted in case there was something I was missing.

Thanks for the pointers

Tony.
