Hey guys - this question is twofold.
1) I'm deciding it's time to sell my beloved 388 (on Ebay now). The thing is cherry, works great. Trying not to ship it - only because I find that the cost will be prohibitive, and I just don't want it to break or deal with UPS. I'm in the Southeast of the US - but not many down here using this stuff., so I may have to ship
2) I'm trying to replace the unit with something I can put in the closet when not in use. As is, the 388 is taking up a corner of a spare bedroom (and it's time to make room for a dresser - sadly, yes, it's that time in my life). So is there a high quality 4-track machine that is small, and records 4 tracks independently (as in, I can record one at a time) - man, I had an Ampex 960, but it only recorded 2 tracks at the same time. I would love something comparable that could record 4 tracks, analog 1/4 inch tape. Simplicity is key. I even like the idea of pretending its 1965 and I'm just some dude making garage band music in my house (that's the style of music I do).
Anyway - any suggestions. Not looking for the cassette tape deals. I want to geek out a bit more than that. I LOVE the sound of the 388 - a semi pro 80's sound, me thinks. But I just need a self-integrated unit, something about the size of the Ampex 960 that lets me record 4 tracks, by myself, one at a time. Any suggestions? Price is a factor too. Any links or leads are appreciated.
Also, where's a good place to spread the word on the 388 for sale - I'd like it to go to a good home (which I'm sure it will). I'd really just like to recoup my investment in it. The Ebay thing is just an ad.
Thanks!
