This is number 4 out of 9. Pretty cool little breakdown at the end with some nice wah guitar. Any general comments welcome.

YOU ROCK HANGDAWG!!!!!!!

Is this a full band? Or are you doing each part?....

I personally think the bass gtr is a little overbearing at times.

And the kick drum is a wee bit overboomy IMO.

Cool tones on the toms, vox, abd baass gtr though.

Good job man.

This was the tune I mixed to try and keep the bass player happy. I do believe there is a bit of low-mid mud I can get rid of still.

I really like this. I like the way the guitars sound in your recordings (ever since Eye of the Storm). The vocals sit well. The kick is a bit boomy for my taste. I recommend a boost in the range of 2.5khz o 5khz to make it cut through better.

A great performance and homerecording - keep it up!

Nice sounds here HangDawg. I'd give you some advice, but then you'd suck. :p

I really liked this. Very coooool bass in it.

LMAO! He'd hunt me down and shoot me if he took mine too!

HangDawg, you did it again! Nice mix, all the boomy comments aside. I guess bass players feel neglected in most mixes (unless they are Geddy Lee). Good that you made him feel good, now you can give the band the real mix... ;)

This smoked. I didn't mind the bass tone as much as I minded the slap/pops that he threw in there. It kinda took away from that whiskey-drinking, coke-snorting, ass-kicking, wife-beating rock n' roll groove. Yep, I dug it muchly.

Hey Hang. Nice guitar tones. Pretty cool song. The only complaint I have is the kick drum coud come down a bit and actually maybe the vocals could come down a bit also.

Nice job!

The drummer didn't want a slappy kick. Good thing too. There was alot of bleed from his overbearing ride cymbal so I had to do some surgery. That's where the click of the kick went. :(

Yep, I think he could have come up with something else. Thanks for the listen.

There is a bit of kick/bass mud I must remove yet. It's a down to a matter of a db or 2 at this point. I'm trying to take it slow ya know.

Yep, that bass is distracting as hell.

If he was going to do those pops, he could have cut the number by 2/3, and sustained them a bit. It would have worked better...

You don't think the bass needs squashed a little more do ya? Might keep them from being so upfront.

Maybe that would do it. The overall tone (and level) seemed okay to me, and then...
POP!!!

I'm stepping on it pretty good now. Maybe a little faster attack to catch the POP! He could have been a little more controlled.

I still stand by what I said, Dawg. If he POPPED less often, and sustained them out for a half a beat longer, they'd be better. But squash it and see what happens.

i don't really like his tone. id say he's not very "dynamically aware" i'd apply some leveling to kill the transients.

the band should reign him in (and i'm a bass player) it's not what the song needs and thare is probably no way you can make it seem so.
just do what you can.

i'm not saying this will work (i've never done it before) but maby it's worth a try
double the kik track and run a high pass on the second one at about oh......
700 or even as high as 1k. level it (the second thin track), like maby even an L2 kinda killed. and mix that in as the high component of your kick.
then maby you can turn the entire kik sound down a little and still have it be heard.

maby it'll work, maby it'll suck, but it'll be fun to try.
