Seaside Grave (clip)

I had to download the wav file. Kind of strange that the file starts partway through the song. I think the mastering you have done may have hurt your mix. Sounds like the acoustic guitar is panned center? The center of your mix sounds too busy to me, the solo electric guitar also seems to be there. The accordion overpowers the vocals when it's playing, the singing is already struggling to be understood over the acoustics. I think you have a nice sounding song here but if the vocals are the star of the show you need to clear some space for them by panning some stuff off center and go for a more natural dynamics as if you were in a room listening to this nice song. I didn't hear any distortion.

Thanks man. In what way has the mastering damaged the mix?

I'm going to go back and redo the vocal. I always assumed that acoustic guitar should be panned center, well at least when there is only one instance of it,as there is here. If you were in a room listening both guitar and vocals these would project from the same musician ...

I was thinking to automate the acoustic on the more busy sections such as the bit you heard.

The reason I posted just a clip is that the rest of the song is mainly acoustic gtr and vocals and I'm happy with how all that sounds...

Thanks man

Something is pumping, it's actually kind of painful in my ear, honestly. Wearing headphones and the volume isn't very loud at the moment. It might be the entire mix, actually. That audible pumping is rather distracting. Guitar sounds nice, I'd just reexamine the master bus plugins.

I've looked at my mastering chain in more detail. 5-6 db of GR at loudest parts on the limiter. perhaps less? I'd then lose volume .... ;/

my mastering compressor is only hitting 2dbs of GR slow attack, fast release
