i am looking for the best way to produce this "warm vocal sound"...but on a budget.
I now record vocals with the SHURE KSM 27 going into PRESONUS EUREKA PRE

The 2 options i was thinking of are:
keeping the ksm 27, but replacing the pre into UNIVARSAL AUDIO SOLO 610 which is a tube pre

or-

changimg the KSM 27 into RODE K2 which is a tube condenser.

what do you think?

Excellent thread, Kid!

Oh, and my wife doesn't like you now. :D

I've got another mic that I have to get. (SM7) LOL!

No fear tho, I still love ya man... ;)

Oh, and Punkin, any particular ribbon you had in mind?

I figure if she's gonna be pissed, might as well make it worth it. :D

Will get slammed against the wall for this one....Shure SM57, worked well for my vocals for alot of years.

Ye Godz that's awful. I mean no disrespect but what a terrible thing to put out into the airwaves.

Aice said:
get the behringer b1 mic you wont regret it. I know it has a bad rep but man its good. sounds like $500. way better then the ksm27

Also Electro-Voice RE20, Sennheiser MD421, or Studio Projects T3 IMHO.

If smooth and natural is O.K. too, consider an EV RE15.

Not as thick sounding as a RE20, which is more "tubish" in tone.
