Seamless midi patch changing

Okay, I know this is a *home recording* forum .... but I figured there'd be some live guitarists too in here, and it's a good forum with people who know stuff.

Can anyone recommend a midi rack effects unit that has (almost) seamless patch changing? Or maybe something other than rack - right now I want to integrate my amp channels & midi effects, but I'm open to alternatives.

TC Electronics G-Major. It is 100% seamless to my ears. It must be set up the right way to make it 100% seamless.

reading the direction will help you get there. tweak some internal settings.

One thing about the G-Major(what i really like), is it is only effects. there is no preamp, or distortions in it. No coloring of your fav amp.

The only bad thing about it, is it does not have the 5th phantom power pin for powering your midi pedal. you have to run a seperate power supply for the midi pedal, but oh well we're used to that arent we.

I'm glad you've mentioned the G-major, it's already caught my eye. Alongside the effects, the external amp-switching link seems exactly what I need (unlike forking out for an engl z-11 etc.)

Any suggestions on a midi controller to use with it? I've clocked the Behringer FCB1010 as a cheap option, but there's a lot of mixed reviews and I might rather get something more expensive of better quality.

Another great preamp/effects unit is the Digitech 2112 or the 2120. I have the 2120 and it is an outstanding unit and has been for about 10 years. It is discontinued so you'd have to get it off of ebay.
