Sealing Cable Channels

If a cable channel crosses under a wall, how do you seal that up?

Or is it better to terminate the channel at the wall and use a face plate on each side?

What I have read: Make your cable channels with a bend in them so that you don't have a straight tube through the wall. Then, stuff it with insulation once the cables are through.

I have no real life experience yet.
