Does anyone on here own it? I am thinking about purchasing it. I have heard some people say it worked very well and some say it wasn't worth $300. Please tell me if I should go through with the purchase!

Thank you

Do you really need to cut down on your room reflections this way? There's a lot of negative comments about it unbalancing the mic stand.

There are polar views on this... I have one and like it, especially if I am tracking other instruments, It does give a cleaner vocal, you do need a heavy mic stand though or a weight placed on the opposite leg

I myself would not purchase one myself. Though I have the room and ability to hang two rockwool panels from my ceiling for cost of about $60. If you are not able to do room treatments then I could see how it could be beneficial.

I have one and it does what it says on the box.
It's really useful if you record in multiple different places and don't or can't treat them all, this is not a replacement for room treatment but it can certainly help in these situations and it can also help even more in a somewhat treated room especially if you drop a gobo or duvet or something behind the singer.

If you push the mic too far into the contraption you can sometimes get some rather odd comb filtering effects, but if you set it up as described in the literature it works as advertised in helping tame some (not all) unwanted room reflections

I never had any problems with unbalanced mic stands using tripod based type heavy duty stands

YMMV of course

I believe they now have two models, the original and a cheaper one.

I've only tried the original and have to say it works amazingly well. Set up as per the rather detailed instructions, I used it for a bunch of voice over stuff and it was hard to tell the results from the same guy speaking in a professional voice booth with acoustics by a noted company.

As said, the set up IS important (and could result in some of the differing opinons) with some unpleasant effects if you put the mic too deeply in...and a loss of the effect if the mic it too far out.

It's fine on decent heavy duty mic stands...but I could see it being a problem on some of the cheapies out there.

I'd be interested in opinions on the new cheaper model.
