I've seen it written at many places[1] that SDCs by virtue of their lower-mass diaphragms have better transient response, since it takes less energy to move it.
What I don't understand is why this is. It seems that since sound is a wavefront, the larger diaphragm will capture more of that front energy, offsetting the additional mass of the diaphragm.
