I've replaced my older Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro at work with the 1402 VLZ3, but when I try to mount the old rack ears onto the new mixer, the screws are way too short to clear the rack ears and screw into the body of the mixer.
I tried picking up some replacement screws, but am having trouble finding anything threaded as finely as the originals. Does anyone know the diameter/thread count of the VLZ3 screws, and whether I can find them at a standard hardware store?

Take one of the screws that goes in but is not long enough into any hardware store with a good screw selection.

Explain to the person helping you that you need a screw with that same threading but a half inch, a full inch, maybe an inch and half longer depending on your needs.

Trust them! They do this at least two dozen times a day for contractors, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc. ;)

Thanks guys - I tried the local hardware store route, but they didn't have anything with a fine enough thread....and I combed every little bin and package in the entire screw, bolt and fastener section....
....if I can get a moment during working hours, I'll give Mackie's support line a call....they probably do sell the screws as a replacement part (or can give me the info), but may want to sell me the rack ears along with 'em....:D

Also try a hobby store. A well stocked hobby store will have all kinds of little screws that a hardware store would not carry.

Home Depot

If you go to the screw section at home depot, they have a template with a bunch of threaded holes in it. Just try screwing in your screw until you find the right size and thread count. If it fits the 8-32 hole, it's a size 8 screw with 32 threads per inch, etc. Then just get a longer one. Good luck

That would be a huge help!!

It seems like about a 6/45 or something - I couldn't find anything finer than a 32 the last places that I tried - I'll check out the depot next. Thanks!
