Hello. I've just started recording on my computer and am having some trouble. I'm using Cakewalk 9.0 and a Gadget Labs Wave 424 card. I recorded a stereo track from a CD with no guitar on it to lay down a guitar track over it. When I play this back, it sound scraychy like an old LP. I've tried several suggestions from the Cakewalk and G. Labs websites, but no help. I've used 3 different sources for the stereo track, so the problem appears to be in the playback. Any help or suggestions appreciated!

Are you micing your guitar ??? Or are you pluging it directly to your card ? It's dungerous....

Well... when you are playing can you listen your guitar from your soundboard ? When you listen the line in before to record is that ok ???

This scratchy noise is there just from recording the stereo CD backing track, before I've even laid down guitar over it. I can monitor the CD while it's playing and the sound is fine going in. It just sounds scratchy when I play it back. Thanks!

Problem solved! I emailed Gadget Labs and had an answer in less than two hours. They sent me a link to download some new drivers not yet on their website. No more scratchy old LP noise! Very happy with their support.
