Hi,

I salvaged a number of those old tapes which date the 1970s.
They have AEG cores and are stored in round metal boxes like films and have a pink backside.
I just wanted to know how good they were and what is the closest "modern" tape to see whether they match my bias settings (LGR35).

Thanks,

David.

This is really 262 tape as seen on the picture below.
I also have some AGFA SN 401 D but the tapes are always marked RK40D and are back coated. They deposit some white powder on the heads but sound very good. I didn't keep them.

Wow, that's cool!

Did someone's grandpa die?

Who's attic did you salvage those relics from?;)

They came from Radio France and were used in the 70s, so I got a number of them. Note that I have both types of settings: "Oxyde Exterieur" supposedly for German recorders and "Oxyde Interieur" for international recorders. That's all I know. The backside is pink, there is a number stamped on the tape regularly and the tape is for broadcast (I guess, as thick as PER525/528 and similars).
