I’ve read the posts on this forum, consulted some hardware specialists, spent some time searching the Web,
Now I humbly post the specs for my new DAW. I intend to use this machine for audio purposes only. I will configure it according to the tips I found at http://www.musicxp.net . The intention of my post is that I would like to get comment or approval on the choices I made. Also I found it very useful reading the posts from others as it helped me to build my own opinion on what it should be for my intended use.
That will be score writing for 20+ instruments (Symphony Orchestra, Woodwind ensembles). I found Sibelius 3 Pro to be perfect for producing excellent score’s on one hand and on the other hand to get an audio-impression on how it’s going to sound. For the last one I want to use Garritan’s Personal Orchestra.

Systemboard: Asus K8V Deluxe, K8T800 (Lan, W-Lan, 5.1 Sound, 1394)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (S754, 2,0GHz, 1MB)
Memory: 1GB x 2 (2GB) PC3200 DDR CL2.5 (TwinMos)
PSU: Chieftec ATX-1136H, 360W
VGA: Matrox Millennium P650 64MB
HD-OS: Seagate 80GB (Barracuda 7200.7, 7200rpm) IDE
HD-Audio: 2 Seagate Barracuda V, 80GB (7200rpm, SATA, 8MB) (in WinXP Dynamic mode)
Optical: NEC ND-2510 8x (Dual-layer), Lite-On 16x48x, LTD-166S
Monitors: Samsung Syncmaster 957MB 19" and Dell 15” TFT
Audio-interface: M-Audio Audiophile 24/96

WinXP Professional SP2

Addendum:
System board, CPU and Memory: Searched for the right (fast) combination.
VGA: The P650 supports 3 Monitors. I will start with 2.
HD-OS: As I read so many times in other posts to use a separate HD for the OS
HD-Audio: Fast Serial Ata 7.2K (the 10K were over my budget). Dynamically configured in WinXP. It should boost performance up to 150%. The total size will be 160 GB. (According to a Computer-expert friend of mine)
Audio-interface: I’ve chosen this one as I won’t be recording with Mic’s or other equipment. I read that it supports both ASIO as GSIF. Maybe I want to use Gigastudio in the future.
