Considering a new guitar purchse. I have a Nashville Tele but looking for something relatively cheap with Humbuckers.

Anyone know much about Schecter Guitars?
I have always pretty much been a Fender Player, but these look like a lot of bang for the buck.

Opinions appreciated

well im not a schecter GUITAR owner per say...but I own a Schecter Model-T bass, and it's pretty damn good for the Diamond Series...with the duncan designed p-ups in em, sounds pretty good, and it's built like a tank, havent had problems and i've owned her for a good 2 years now :D

SCHECTER GETS MY VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!

Now alot of people will come on here telling you that Schecter is garbage...DON"T LISTEN! My main guitar is the Schecter Diamond Series c1 in walnut finish. This guitar plays great, and sounds great. And most of Schecters 4 hundred dollar on up guitars are quite good buys. Some of the finishes on these are absolutely beautiful. I was skeptical of them at first and then i played on them. I really like them. They seem to be kinda like the next big thing for NU metal, and NU rock...but i play many styles on mine and love it. They aren't a Les Paul or anything, but in the mid priced guitar range ( 4-900) they are hard to beat.

Hey thanks A-man

They look good to me -- have for a while --- I think I might give one a try. ---Walnut!!!?
That sound nice!

I don't own a schecter, but I have seen them used live countless times.. I would definately buy one, they sound really good clean, and with distortion.

What I like a lot about Schecter's is that they aren't sloppy guitars. They are very solid, and the strings just ring. It's great for rock and roll, metal, etc., but not good for Blues, Jazz, etc.

Anyway, I would recommend one for a budget buyer.

Yeah, they're a little bit limited tone wise, but they seem to play pretty nicely from what I've seen, and most of the ones that are between 500-600 dollars look pretty nice too (in case that is a concern). One thing I do really like about them is that all of the models that I've seen had string-thru bridges which is kinda neat.

hmmmmm

I played a schecter a couple times and wasn't too impressed! They do look nice and have a nice price tag. But, don't believe the hype! You can buy the baseline Ibanez G10 for under $100 and it plays better than those things. I don't want to be bias, but I think that they are just a new trend. NOT VERY SPECIAL AT ALL. thats just my opinion...

Hey thanks for the input 7evin,

I Have not bought one yet, and surelly will make some comparisons before I do.
Very well may end up with something other that a Schecter

Almost pulled the trigger on one of the new FMT Telecasters with the neck through body and humbuckers.

I have a Tele, and Two Nice Taylor Acoustics so I'm not going to buy into any hype.

But I have seen them around for years so Don't really think they are a "Trend" ---- Really have not heard and "HYPE!"

That's why I aked the question here about them that I did.
Looking for input from experience players that could really evalutate.
Sorry but I don't agree about the about the hunerd-dallah-ibeynaz

7eleven, i dont know which Schecter you played but everyone ive played had a nice feel and tone and was worth every $$$......as far as bang for the buck, youll get way more for your $$$ from Schecter than Fender,Gibson, etc. and definitely more for your $$$ than Ibanez......

Well there you have it!!!

The Gidge-ster has spoken

I wouldn't buy one... think resale or collector's value...

The absolute best bang-for-your-buck guitars right now are the Samick Greg Bennett series, especially the Avion, the Royale, and the incredibly sweet Ultramatic. I bought the Ultramatic UM-4 ( a PRS knockoff) and it's 95% as good as the real thing for about a quarter of the price. Go to Harmony Central and check out the user-reviews on this guitar... it's a no-brainer.

Besides, Schecter guitars are made by Samick... so you're paying an extra $50 to $100 for just the Schecter name on the headstock. Skip the middle-man and get a Bennett-designed Samick.

You won't be disappointed, I guarantee it. ;)

Sorry. I thought this was an open forum....

Well I now know that when someone asks for your opinion, they really don't want your opinion in this forum. I wasn't trashing Schecter, I personally don't like them. So quite crying Gidge! Just because you have NO life and you think that your knowledge revolves around your retarted little numbers below your name, gives you no right to make fun of someone who voices their opinion! Last time I checked this was an open forum!

Hi riccol-

seems like I whine alot about this, but you should make sure you know whether the Schecter model has Jumbo Frets or not

I'd always used guitars with non-Jumbo frets and was bummed when I realized what they were that my Schecter had them. Didn't notice the issue until I really started playing for real at home.... I figured I would adapt- I was wrong

Notes f'ked up sharp everywhere you press. I would love to get rid of mine. I actually am going back to my old Kramer . I was told to play "lighter" but no, I don't think so. If you're a "shredder" , I guess Jumbo is the way to go though.

oh yeah, but the price was great and the neck through the body is fabulous, and the finish is magnificent

Interesting post about the jumbo frets, I have for years played Teles and Strats, Never with jumbo frets. I have played around in the stores with Jumbo frets and kinda liked them ---same thing I'm thinking I will adapt. I'm looking for something with humbuckers for a thicker sound for recording. Now you've got me thinking.
Thanks for the post.
Anyone else any experience here on this subject?

Or other sugestions for a guitar with humbucker tone?
non-jumbo frets?

i like the schecter bass's.

i played one of thier guitars once, and i liked it. i own 3 guitars *6 strings, kinda ones a uke :D* and i enjoyed it.

i was going to buy one of thier basses but i got an OLP musicman for about...half the price of the schecter i wanted. they are a little pricey, but, they are nice.

um......since when is Schecter made by Samick? Schecter is their own independant company outta California if I'm not mistaken....

Schecter designs and distributes their guitars out of California, but they are actually "manufactured" by Samick in Korea. Look closely on any Schecter guitar and you'll see "Made in Korea" on it. Samick also has a guitar plant in Indonesia, too!

Hell, Samick makes well over 50% of the entire world's new guitars, including....

Squier
Fender
Epiphone
Schecter
Ibanez ( the lower-end models)
Silvertone
Mitchell
Washburn
Aria
Steinberger
Agile
Rogue
Carlo Robelli
Galveston

etc. etc. etc.

Still don't believe it?

Do a Google search with any of the above manufacturers I listed, then put "made by samick" next to it and click away.

You're in for a rude awakening, kid. ;):D:D
