I've been shopping around for a new guitar, and I found a Schecter C1 Plus at my local Guitar Satan for around $500. It's a beautiful guitar, great flame top (probably around AA), nice workmanship, felt great, played great, sounded pretty good, a little low in the output... It's a mahogany body, maple top, like a Les Paul or PRS, but thinner and obviously a lot cheaper.

Anyway, I'm thinking about buying one... but the fact that the price is so low for a guitar that seems so nice--and it was made in Korea--has me a little worried. Anyone have any experience with these things? I looked on Harmony-Central, and all the reviews were glowing, except nobody really liked the pickups... but it seems like it's pretty much par for the course that pickups get replaced whenever you buy a sub-$1000 guitar nowadays. I guess I'm mostly just concerned when I see something that feels fantastic and looks fantastic, but it's priced really cheap. My other guitars are an LP standard, a 62 reissue Am. Strat, and a cheap yamaha pacifica. I'm looking for a guitar to sort of fill my Les Paul niche without me constantly worrying about it getting nabbed backstage or banged by a mic stand. I think sub-$1000 including replacement pickups (probably a Duncan Custom Custom bridge and PAF or 59 neck).
