sb live platnium can it do realstic harmonys if so how, and if not is there a freeware that can

I don't get it. SB Live! Platinum is a soundcard, right? It plays what you tell it to (within its limits). What type of harmonies are you talking about?

vocal harmony.

sblive has an effects section. enviromental effects. i want one that can make realistic harmonys

I presume that the environment effects are just different types of reverbs.

If you want to create realistic volcal harmonies, you'd need a pretty nifty piece of SW that can change the pitch without altering the timing. I have a feeling that it's going to be really expensive before it sounds good.

Ola you are correct I have the SB live value and the only effects I've seen that it can do are reverb related.

To do harmonies you'll be laying out some bucks. Check the digitech site, they have great harmony processors for both vocals and guitar. I have the guitar processor version and no complaints (RP2000). I'd be surprised if you find economical software that will do harmonies, it think an outboard effect will be your best shot......or just multi track the harmonies!

The budget way is to use RBC Voice Tweaker DirectX plug-in... it's like a poor man's Antares AutoTune, and pretty nice for the price (I think it was $59 or $69). Of course, you have to have a DirectX host recording application, but most are these days except perhaps Cubase since they have their own VST thing... maybe Logic too doesn't support DirectX?
