sb platinum, optical?

i'm guessing that you can connect the optical outs on a digital mixer to the live ware front panel, just like a digital recorder right?, but when i try to select a recording device, i can't seem to find a way to enable the optical ports,. I cant get audio in through the optical.

Strange as it sounds, I think Creative really intended the digital out to be used with some powered speakers they are marketing, which have a digital input.

What sort of spec their digital outs follow, I don't know.
