Hi everyone

I would like to be able to mixdown to my computer from my small inexpensive (porta-02) 4 track. I would like to do some virtual tracking, and i was wondering if the SB live platinum was a good starting soundcard. I really dont have enough to buy the SG1000X, although i am saving! Thanks

Yup, it will work exellently as a starting card, but it's NOT a prosumer card, so there are limitations. That said, it should suit you to a T for the moment.

You maight want to get the DCoffset DX plugin to use if you are using a DirectX capable recording package, cos the cheaper soundcards (SB's among them) have DCOffset drama occasionally). You can get it at www.analogx.com

Would anyone like to explain DC offset? Someone showed me once what it looks like in a waveform, but I'm not clear as to how it affects your sound.
