I’ve installed SB Live and everything seems to be working except for what I got it for. I’m tying to run L/R channels (From a TASCAM 424) into it’s L/R aux’s on the LiveDrive, but I get nothing. Apparently this could be due to a setting in the Surround Mixer which would mute any aux inputs, but I CAN’T GET INTO THE MIXER! I get this error…

Ctsurmix.exe has generated an error and will close, blah blah blah.

Every time.

I’ve tried several slots, I’ve reinstalled multiple times, I’ve reset config data, and I’m about out of ideas.

Little help?

go to the normal Windows mixer (double-click the little speaker at the bottom right corner of your screen), click options, properties. Then go to "select input for Recording" and make sure all the boxes are checked. then push ok and select the correct input you want.

Yeah. I use a SBLiVE! Value and I never use the Creative mixer. I've always just used the windows one.

It's a good idea to get into the creative mixer cos the card sound a whole lot better with all the surround and games effects switched off. :)
cheers

John-
I, too, have a SBLive! Value sound card. How does one get into the creative mixer and switch off all the surround and game sounds. You say the card will function better for recording with those turned off. I never use the card for games, only music, so would I ever need to have the creative mixer turned back on for any reason? Thanks, Zola

...under Enviromental Audio, Master tab, click All Effects Off.

Thanks for all the suggestions...

I can get into the mixer now, but it hasn't helped. I still can't get a signal going into the RCA aux inputs. What now?

Thanks for the link, Chuck, but I've been through all that already with no luck. I've been at this thing for a lot of hours now and am beginning to feel defeated. I know it has to be something simple and stupid that I'm overlooking, but I don't have a clue what that could be.

You're sure? You went to the Options menu, selected Properties, and then selected the Recording button in the Adjust volume for section, then hit OK and checked it there? The default window just shows input devices playing through the audio stream out to the Line Out.

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, but it's easy to overlook and happens to a lot of folks...

Chuck,
I spent the better part of last night wandering through corridors of my pc that I haven't seen in years and finally went to bed feeling more useless than I have in even more. Not one thing I did even teased me of solving the problem. There were periods of zero audio, no drive access, and even a couple power outages. Just like in California. It was not a good night.

Morning wasn’t shaping up to be any better and dealt the decisive nail around 9 with my zipping of stomach hairs up into my vest. I’m not kidding, man, I’ve got four band-aids on my tire. Anyway, the day actually turned out pretty well. A friend of mine who knows what-it-is with computers had himself a peek and seems reasonably sure of himself that my problem is a Win 2000 pregnancy. I’ll let you know what he figures out tomorrow after he looks some more. Then, the guys came over and we had a great time-even managed to get a couple descent tapings…

Well I don't know what the problem was, but it's gone and so is win2000. Everything's working fine on ME. I think my previous sound card was causing some conflicts that we weren't able to dig up.

thanks again everyone...
