BTW, one thing I noticed is that the SB Live is using the WDM drivers. Is it possible that I'm using the other drivers (wmm?) on the Delta and that's causing an unreported conflict? How would I check? I'll visit the m-audio web site...but if anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it! I want to get this working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am using the WDM drivers and am having no problems.
but then again, i am not using the SBLive card for anything else but the joystick input on the card. i wouldnt even know how to use it for the soundfonts.
sorry.
my last suggestion is for you to purchase a book called "sonar power". it has great info in it. and it is written in plain english so all can understand. trust me, it is worth the money. the authors setup is the delta 66 and SBLive card also.

Hey SpaceDye,

I just recently bought Sonar Power and am going through it now. There is just so much to digest.

As a lark I ended up loading XP on my recording box...lo and behold, both sound cards show up and appear to be working. I am however, having audio playback problems and my CPU utilization just out of the blue is about 60% higher. Didn't have these issues in 98se.

But, I'm gonna read some posts and no doubt will find an answer.

Thanks for your help!

No answers yet. Considering heavy sedation. Also digging out my old Mac Performa (33MHZ!) with MasterTracks Pro. That worked like a freaking charm.

Thanks

have you contacted sonar, Maudio or soundblaster/creative tech- support about this question yet at all?
im still looking into it also.

thanks. I'm making some changes, going to be doing some research. Thanks so much for the help. Now you go spend your time cutting some great tracks!

Hey, Don. I think you solved your own problem. It's not actually a conflict, but Sonar won't let you mix and match WDM and MME drivers. I suspect, as you surmised, that the Delta is using MME drivers and the Soundblaster is using WDM's. That's why you're only seeing the one card.

Here's an easy fix for you. Go to Options -> Audio -> Advanced. Under Playback & Recording, check the box for Always Use MME Interface Even When WDM Drivers Are Available. Then Click OK.

It's possible you may have to reprofile your sound card and exit and restart Sonar, but that should get both cards usable within Sonar.

The other way to do it (a bit more complex) is to download and install the WDM drivers for your Delta. This will have the advantage of getting you better latency, but may introduce new problems :)

Thanks Mike! I read you loud and clear on the WDM vs. MME driver thing....

Actually, I have reconfigured my home network and now will be using my Athlon 1.2GHZ machine for recording. My decision now, when I'm able to focus on it (damn work...gotta pay for these toys:-) will be: 2000 Workstation, 98se, or XP? Cakewalk, Cubase, or Logix?

I've been experimenting with these choices in order to discover what I want to focus on. I've also been "educating" myself on digital recording, after a six year layoff from the analog world. My last setup was a Mac with Master tracks Pro and a Tascam 38!!!:-)

Thanks again for your help. I'm open to any input about what OS and software would be best. I'd start a thread, but its probably been done a hundred times! :-)
