saving to data

looking at daws. intrigued by 24 bit machines. since cds burn at 16 bit, if you save to data on the cdrw, do you save at 24 bit? thanks
 
first off: I think you should probably post on a forum other than "guitar and bass" in order to get better advice :P

anyway, I'm not sure how DAW's work. But in order to burn an audio Cd, it must be 16 bits at 44.1 sample rate dig?? but data, (aka wav's etc...) CAN be saved in 24 bit. In order to get to 16 bit, dither must be added. I'm not sure if DAW's can do this, but Sound Forge can.
