Hi people,
i've just bought a DMT-8, only to realise that you can only save the hard drive info to DAT, and i don't own a DAT machine,
i shouldn't complain as i picked it up cheap, but still!

does anybody know if it is possible to save the info to the hard drive in my computer?
i have an ego-systems wamirack 24 which has optical S/PDIF input and output and i am running cubase,
i have connected the lead from the Fostex into the wamirack,
but as i am new to this i am now scratching my A**e as to what next to do

any help would be greatly appreciated

cheers muchly

If it has Fibre-optic (adat) I/O you can transfer your music thru that.. if not then you can go the slow 2 trk I/O route.. How about SCSI?

Hey Twitch
cheers for your reply,
but i really am this new and ignorant to all this computer recording lark,

is fibre-optic the same as optical S/PDIF?

because the Fostex and the Wamirack link up together that way ok
my problem lies in what next to do!
do i need special wave recording software? or can i do this in cubase?
or am i so wide of the mark here it is laughable!!

Yeah it's the same.. You might need a special wave form.. but you can try it any way using cubase.. also you might want to update the software.. check out fostex website and see if you can still do that.
