Hello, I am creating a sample cd and am thinking about doing both .wav and .aiff sound files.

WHen i saved a sound in .aif format, the icon in windows isnt the little purple speaker but a Page with a little icon in it. I dont think this is a true audio file, or is it?

What boat am i missing? Can Cool Edit Pro 1.2 save a .aiff file?

Thanks

john

I beleive it is a Quicktime file type do you have quicktime installed?

this is interesting. I used CoolEdit to convert wav files to aiff for export to a mac. burned the aiffs to cd. When I tried to use them on the mac, they were associated with quicktime, and protools wouldn't open them. Are there different types of aiff?

Quicktime associates itself with everything it can. Quicktime is the work of the devil. I uninstalled it, scrubbed it from my registry, pissed all over it and jumped up and down on its grave, but it still pops up here and there on my system.

Death to Quicktime.

I would like to kick RealPlayer square in the nuts.

I did that to my old computer and broke the monitor, LOL!

Any Player you install and it insults you by makeing itself your default player sucks real player esp it associates with files it can't even play kill it burn it.

As I said above, I uninstalled Quicktime every way I know how, and yet the Quicktime window still pops up about half the time I want to stream an mp3. What a pain. Like camn said, a kick square in the nuts.

These assholes who design these programs to be so intrusive - they know they're being assholes, but do you think their bosses know and approve? Do you think they're all having a wicked little chuckle because their program works on your system like a fish hook - you can't get it out without ripping flesh?

I wouldn't fault the programmers. I think they just do what they're told.

Do you have Window's Media player? If you do open it up and go to the options and check the box for .aif .mp3 .mpU files it should re-associate the file to play with wmp cep you have to set it up again for it to associate it in other then opening and playing manual. Next time that damn quicktime pops up shoot it. Musicmatch will do the mp3 or mpu files also and probably win amp also Quicktime has a bunch of menu's to go thru to get it to finally quit playing normal files but some files you need to have it for apple mac propriortary just set it to those and clear the rest. Apple used to have the file types on their site but can't seem to find them right now if I do I will post it.
