Well, I've had mine for a while, but didn't get a chance to record much with them (got them for live use). Let's hear it from those who used the various SansAmps to record. Please specify which unit you used (Classic Sansamp, PSA-1 SansAmp {ouch, expensive!}, GT2 Sansamp, Sansamp Bass DI or Sansamp Acoustic DI, also Trademarks 10 and 60) and which instrument(s) you recorded. Share some good results, secrets, settings, etc. Thank you!

I use the GT-2 and the Bass DI. I've had no problem with the GT-2 with my guitar, but the Bass DI gave me some problems with its output signal. I ended up running the input into my mixer from the output on my Hartke bass amp. For some reason I couldnt get the desired volume when i just ran straight from the Bass DI.

Ok, I've had the same story with my Bass DI. I think the 1/4" out is meant to go into a preamp section of a bass combo amp (it is not preamped), so for recording you want to use the XLR out. I think that's what it's about. Try it.

i've heard that before but i have yet to try it. I'm not sure where to get an XLR cable that has two 1/4 plugs on the other end.. at least i can use it through my amps outs..

dabluesman,

I don't think it's a stereo output, it's a balanced mono signal. So the other end should be one TRS 1/4" plug if you want to plug it into a 1/4" jack, not a pair.

Get a regular XLR cable (both ends) and an impedance converter, which will also convert to 1/4". This is NOT a stereo. I'm afraid even that needs to be preamped, though.

Hey, my first post!

I've been using the GT-2 for about 4 months for recording. It's been great so far. Extremely easy to use. I don't have anything to compare it against, but I've been happy with the sounds I've got out of so far.

I got mine at GC used - $80. So I was real happy with the price also...

I've used both BASS DI and PSA-1 in recording scenarios and for personal band use.

The PSA-1 doesnt have a lot of warmth to it. I ended up selling it to get a bass pod(which Ive found to be good only for recording). I did find it to be great in adding super punch to your sound though. In this case I put it in the chain before the head and not as a preamp.

The Bass DI is excellent especially when you have someone come in to record who doesnt understand btone very well. I just put it after the bass in front of the head and run a XLR out to the mixer and dial in the tone they need. They usually wont realize what I did to get a good sound on tape but will feel like a superstar..haha

I take my Bass DI with me to shows in case my SVT head blows. I know I can plug directly into that and out to the board and quickly get a great sound.
