Dogman & Ido1957,

I THINK I've managed to follow your recommendations & have posted the update at the same link - the newest version has replaced the older oones so the link at the top of this ought to get you there.
Three mixes over a weekend - I should be doing work BUT was amused by the possibilities.
Thanks for the ideas & references. If the new mix doesn't meet expectations PLEASE let me know & I'll have another go. I find mixing with a panel of mentors SO much better than leaving to my tired ears alone. & I'm learning lots along the way.
I'll test the original link & if it's no good I'll edit this post to incorporate a new one.
Cheers

Ray, link needs fixing...I know where your page is, so went there.... :D
Ok dude, much cooler. The way the 2 vox intereact is much better. I don't know if it would help to put a dely, or something on the backing vox or not... This sounds pretty good. If the backing vox had a bit more echoe than the main, it might sound cool, and it might ruin it. Just a thought there. I like this best so far man. I think you are nailing it. The vox towards the end interact very well. Nice job man.... :)

Thanks Dogman,
I copied the address from the soundclick page & pasted it at the bottom of the 1st post via edit. That's thrice soundclick has given me grief this weekend. Sorry to have caused you bother.
OK, a fraction of delay/echo to give the 2nd vocal a bit of "je n' c'est qua" (excuse the French).
I'll try that during the week & post a separate version for comparison's sake.
Thanks for the response & well considered constructive ideas.

Aint no bother man....I've posted my share of links that don't work.... :D

Hey Rayc - this latest mix sounds great. The two vocals now work well together. I think you got just the right balance in levels for the "lead" versus the "background" vocal parts. And it sounds like you brought both up closer to the same level at that 3:02 part where the phrasing interacts well - good dynamic effect. Good one!

Ido1957,
Thank you very much for the complimentary critique.
It's amazing how much a bit of independant direction or commentary can assist.
I was reasonably resigned to the state the song was in before I decided to post it. & whilst I have made any significant changes or rerecording the little bits here & there have made significant improvements to it.
Being a fruitcake for psychedelic music I can't help but slap on the reverb & can never tell when enough is too much. It's the alteration to that aspect that has made the biggest diff to the mix & that is a result of input from folk such as yourself & Dogman.
I remain, as always, oblidged to your good selves.
Cheers

PS that may seem like unnecessary grovelling or self abasement BUT I think the positive learning aspects of this forum, as opposed to just the feel good stuff of the fun, the mutual admiration societies etc. need to be acknowledged occasionally. rc
