Samson Meteor: Can't play audio when MIC is plugged in

Hi,

I searched the forums before posting so my apologies if this has been answered before.
I am brand new to home recording and I have purchased a Samson Meteor USB mic. I am using this with a Lenovo Laptop running Win 7. When the mic is plugged in...I can't play any audio through the laptop speakers or through headphones connected via the headphone jack.
Anything I can do to fix this? For now I am just detaching the mic when I want to play...but it doesn't seem like that is the way this should work.

It probably becomes the audio input/output device in Windows when you plug it in. Try manually setting the audio playback device to the laptop's internal card while leaving the mic as the recording device.
 
You were right. The Meteor set itself up as default record and playback device. I just had to reset playback default to speakers.
