Hi everybody,

I bought a Samson G-Track mic thinking it was ace from the advert and what I had read, to later discover it doesn't work too well with windows.

Originally my problem was audio only coming out of left side of stereo. However I posted on another audio site and found out how to pan this, but in turn I have switched to Mono on the mic as this seems to pan to both sides.

Now the problem I face is that I don't know why but since I re-booted my PC as it had a virus, all tracks I seem to record come very distorted or with alot of pops or hiss. I do already have a pop filter I bought from Maplins. But I don't know why but it seems to distort alot or make the recording sound on certain elements of the track so you can tell it's recording on those areas.

I am currently playing around and have tried to work it with Mixcraft, Audacity & Magix Music Maker, all to which I still have distortion problems.

Does anybody know what the best software to record with are for this software.

My PC settings are:
Intel Celeron
2.53Ghz and 0.99GB of Ram
My Local C: Has 16GB Free
and I also have a external hard drive which holds 500 GBl, Currently 300GB Free.

My Soundcard is:

A Soundmax I think
