Samson C02 mics?

If you're after small-diaphragm condensors, how about the mxl 603's - most people rave about them (I do), and while they're a little bit more expensive ($150.95 for a pair at www.8thstreet.com or $199 for a matched pair with shockmounts) you know they're gonna be good. The C02's I have yet to see anything on, but the reviews of the C01's which are positive generally conclude with comments like, "well, it's cheap, so if your drummer hits it you aren't gonna be out much to replace it". "I wouldn't use it on vocals, but it is really cheap"

Hmmm.... Not promising. I'd steer clear at least until they're a known quantity and suggest buying MXL603's instead.

Good luck,
Steve

Yeah, I know about the mxl603s. :) But I kind of was asking about these mics, you know? :) I actually had a decent experience with the 1 C01 that I worked with: power metal vocals all the way. I actually have a stereo matched pair of CAD GXL1200s that have served me nicely for stereo room micing, so I'm really not in the market for another pair of SD mics. I just want to know... and at that price, I might just have to buy them to do that...

the co1's are reviewed very well

the CO1's have done very well in review -- Sound on Sound thought is was an excellent value saying only that the noise level was slightly higher than some other more expensive mikes. There was an aussie mag that also gave a rave review of the CO1. I know nothing about the CO2, but if you're using the CO1 as a guide, then you could do ALOT worse.

i have the CO1 (a pair). Great on vocals, great all-around.
