I think I'm about to but Samplitude 7 Classic. What control surface plays nice with it. I've got a Tascam DM24, but may be getting the Tascam US2400 and wanted know how they play together. What the advantage of getting the pro version of Samp over the Classic. I'll just be doing basic editing, mixing and recording.

I've heard that you can master driect with it or do I need the CD mastering program too?

You might have a hard time finding V7 Classic because V8 is in the stores.

The pro version has more features for advanced editing you may or may not need. I'm still using V6 because V7 uprgades are all gone in the US and I don't need surround capability and Im not using the sub bus. You don not need a mastering program for making cd's with V6 and up, it has a menu and custom template for mastering cd's. Works extremely well, so well that I got rid of Wavelab 4.0.

Believe it or not, you can still find amazing deals on version 6. That was the best eighty dollars I've ever spent on recording gear.

It offers great options for mastering as well.

I'd demo the control surface first with V8. Just to make sure everything maps correctly.

The Pro Version comes with the Analog Model Suite made by the same guy who did block fish. Its a compressor and a transient designer and they KICK SERIOUS ASS. TD is definitly the best plug-in I heard and the compressor is as good as any I've heard in plug-in land....tons of gain reduction w/o alot of audible compression artifacts.
