I have a chance to get an unopened copy of this from a friend for $200.00. Looking around the net I can't find it for under $400.00 so I'm guessing this could be a great deal. I've never used it so I'd love some opinions on it from anyone here who has used it or is currently using it.

I'm currently using the latest version of Reaper and am getting curious about some other DAW progs.

Thanks in advance.

Grab it

It's a superb program and that is a stupidly silly low price.

I used Samplitude since the beginning and liked it so much that I have now upgraded to the top version - Sequoia 11.

It's a great program and you can burn master CDs direct from Samplitude and even insert ISRC codes.

Go for it - in your position I would not hesitate.

The top 3 programs for pro use are SADiE, Sequoia and Pyramic (ProTools in the TV industry) - with Samplitude you are on the Sequoia ladder, and even the most basic Samplitude uses the same engine that is in Sequoia.

Greatest. Program family. Ever. Although I'd have to be skeptical on the price -- Make damn sure it's (A) legit and (B) INCLUDES the incredibly expensive dongle and (C) check which version (there are several variations) you're looking at there...

I have been a Samplitude used since 6.0 and I love it.
I'd buy it.
As Massive implied there are different versions....some are just 2 track type versions for mastering, make sure it is the multitrack version if that is what you intend on doing.

I've been on Samplitude 7 for quite a few years, and I recently purchased the Samplitude Pro 11 upgrade (though 11 is actually a complete app, it doesn't really need 7 installed). I'm going to be installing it on another comouter...I'm just waiting for the right moment to transition from 7 to 11...as I'm very comfortable with 7 and now in the middle of some recording.

Two things...they have 2 (or 3?) versions of Samplitude 11...Samplitude Pro being the full-tilt version...the others have a few less features and cost cheaper.
Also...even though the 11 versions don't require an older venison to be installed on the machine...make sure you don't need to have earlier or full version serial numbers if that's just an upgrade. I'm not quite sure (since I have not installed it yet) if I will need to enter my versions 7 serial number during the initial install.
I also know that to buy the 11 upgrade, I needed my 7 registration info.

If however that's a full-tilt, first owner version that you can install and register as the original owner...that's a GREAT price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh...Samplitude kicks ass!

I tried 10SE and really liked the workflow (magazine freebie)...not perfect for what I do but better than most of the others Ive tried...Ive read reviews saying that 11 probably isnt worth the upgrade from 10 but from an earlier version, or as a new DAW, its pretty excellent

I never did see the point of these hyper expensive versions like Sequoia and/or Nuendo though...I mean do they really offer that much more in value? I also had a look at SAW...my god that expensive for what it is...looked really homemade, anyone have experience with it? whats the deal?

The Samplitude versions are:-

Samplitude 11 Silver - about ? 50

Samplitude 11 - ? 425

Samplitude 11 Pro - ? 850

Sequoia 11 - ? 2,500

All prices exclude VAT

I am guessing it's the Samplitude 11 ? 425 version on offer.

It is worth the upgrade - I upgraded from 7 to 9 to 10 to 11 (the 11.2 patch was released just before Christmas).

Sequoia is definitely worth the money (I upgraded from Samplitude to Sequoia), especially if you are mastering. The source/destination editing is worth it alone and only Sequoia has DDP export for sending masters to the pressing plant (DDP on it's own is over € 1,000).

I know it's not the latest greatest top-o-the-line model software, but it IS from the same publisher. I purchased
Magix Music Studio 2005 Deluxe for $70.00 back in 2005 and I've been a happy clam with it.
Samplitude is a much higher end product that's in the half to three quarter grand price range.
It's hard to look at Cubase, Pro-tools sometimes because the GUI visual graphics in those products don't impress me. I debate which to save for. I like what I have. It's been very stable.
$200 sounds like a steal. Go for it. But just be sure you can register it, first. Otherwise, I would verify that you can transfer the ownership of the product. You say it's unopened and I cannot imagine your friend would lie to you about that aspect.
If it's legit, half the going rate is pretty darned good, IMHO.

Sorry if that's not much of a review on the product your inquiring about but I just felt that Magix' product deserved a thumbs up.

Go for it if it's authentic!
There's no other sequencer except Samplitude for me...!;)

Here in the U.S., there's also Samplitude 11 Producer. In Europe, there's Samplitude Music Studio 16 (MS16) instead. These are slightly different applications, with MS16 being more oriented toward the consumer market, and Producer being geared more for the "pro-sumer" market. I've been using Producer for the last year, and it has been rock-solid. Before that, I used MS6 Deluxe, MS2004, MS 2005, MS10, MS12, MS14. I just recently upgraded to Samplitude 11 Pro, and it's killer. Includes tons of effects that rival the most expensive commercial plugins. I can't speak highly enough of Samplitude! I'll also mention that you can find a free download of Samplitude 11 Silver from the Magix website--just Google-search it.

You can also download a full trial version of Samplitude 11 Pro. :D

Isn't the demo download only for Samplitude 11, and not Samplitude 11 Pro? Also, as you stated, it's only a trial. The Samplitude 11 Silver download that I was referring to isn't a trial. You simply have to sign up for a Magix account & register it online, and it functions indefinitely. It's got a lot of restrictions and limitations, but would still be a great starter DAW for newbies, or for those that want to see how the workflow is in Samplitude.

I recorded the first half of my band's first CD using MS2005, and it was great. About midways through the project, I upgraded to MS10, and recorded the rest of the CD and mixed it in that. I still think Music Studio is great for home recordings and small project studios. And you can buy it for dirt-cheap on Ebay!

It's kind of sad that they've discontinued Music Studio here in the U.S. The closest thing now is Samplitude 11 Producer, which is only available as a download version and costs $200. The boxed version of Music Studio used to be available everywhere (Best Buy, Hastings, Ebay, etc.), and could be bought new for around $50 or $60. I was always be running the next-to-newest version, which I would get off of Ebay for like $20!
