Sampling rate question...! Heeeelp! :)

Hi!

I have a desperate question... I've never burned an audio CD before, but I have a friend who has and she's letting me use her CDR... I have all the songs I need saved on my hard drive as WAV files. My problem is that a few of them were sampled at 22Khz instead of 44! I've tried to convert them, but they end up with loud popping sounds every second or so... My question is, can I burn those songs as they are and still have them be listenable? I don't mind losing some clarity, as long as it will work... I've been searching for the answer everywhere, and I can't seem to find it. Can anybody help me? :) Thanks!
 
nope...you can't

But, you could save them as data files so that when you get a system together and/or software that can do this sample rate conversion correctly you will have it all on disk.

If you are trying to burn a .cda disk, you gotta have 16 bit, 44.1 sample rate files.

Darn! Sigh... thanks for in the info, though. :)

The program I'm using to convert from 22 to 44 is incredibly old... I mean, reeeeeeally old. Is it possible that if I can find a better one I won't have the popping problem? Can you maybe suggest one I can use? (preferably something I can download?)
 
You might try GoldWave, www.goldwave.com . But to tell you the truth, I have never had to sample up!!! But, I am sure that it may do the job.
