Hey all!!....this is what i am TRYING to do/remember way back in early 90's when you could buy a small keyboard and it came with 4 pads and you could record in those pads (whether it be your voice or a melody, etc)...then you could hit those pads whenever...say for example you put "ICEBERG" in one pad...you could hit it multiple times and would say "I, i, i, i, iceberg"......well my quandry is HOW DO I THAT with todays equipment/software....what i'm working with currently is an MPD32 (which i have yet to master), Windows 7 on my DAW, M-Audio interface......is there an add along program that can be bought to accomplish this??.....i hear IT in todays music but have to clue on how to attain this myself....

You can do that easily with modern tools. You need a software sampler than can be triggered by MIDI. Then you need to record the samples as Wave files, and store them in a format the software sampler can read. I use SoundFonts for this, but there are other popular formats. So first figure out which software synth you'll get (some are freeware), then you'll know what sampler file formats it can load.
