Sample player questions

Hi all, I've been recording midi, and I'm in need of some realistic horns and orchestral strings. Not a lot, maybe a trumpet, sax, and trombone, and for strings a violin and cello. Since it's only a few instruments I need, is there a good alternative to buying a large pack like Kontakt? If I download a free player like SFZ, can I just buy samples for only the instruments I need? I someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it! Just trying to avoid dropping $400 for a sample library fulll of instruments I have no need for.

Acoustic instruments of great quality are rarely sold separately at a reasonable cost unfortunately. If you want superior sound you'll have to pay to get it. Every time.

Also - try VSTPLANET - VST Plugins Free - Virtual instruments and effects.

It's a treasure trove of free VST and VSTi plugins.

And if you look carefully you'll find sfz files for free in many odd corners of the internet.
