This was also posted in the Mixing Clinic:

Hey guys. I thought I'd let you know that your votes really did help. We have offically been nominated.

So I thought I'd ask for a second favor (with much humblness) for you to vote again (by MARCH 1st) if you liked what I have posted in the Mixing Clinic.

Again, my band's name is THE HAND MERCHANTS and please submit your vote in the FOLK category. This link should take you right to the ballot: http://newsreview.com/SceneAndHeard/inside/SAMMIESvote2000.asp

Also, here's another one of our songs from our CD called I Hope You Get There; it's my favorite on the album.

If anyone has not heard the two other songs I've posted and like what you hear from this song, you can listen to them by downloading them from the posts The Kiss and Recording Engineers Mastered Version Of Paralle (a la sonusman), if you so desire.

Again, Thank You for even taking the time to read this,

Weston Ray aka Recording Engineer

Thanx guys, but I already knew. It's also printed in their paper like that. Hopefully they'll change it; we gotta call 'em. They still have 3 more issues to print in the next three weeks. We were hoping the web editor(s) would have caught it, but no, it's on both the web and the paper like that.

Hey! We've been called by even a better name before...

"Those Hand Jobby Guys"

Recording Engineer...You must be familiar with Natalie Cortez and the Ultra Violets.

Your three songs are definitely 'Top Shelf' Material. I can see why "I Hope You Get There" is your favorite as I too think it's your best.

Ya...I try to catch them when they are playing near-by. I like to see Natalie get wild. And the Steve's are good. First time I saw them I bought their 3 CD's. I was mesmerized. I told Natalie I would send her a song one of my dead guitarists wrote as one of her songs reminded me of it, but I've been to busy procrastinating. 'Ghost of a Friend'. Sort of prophetic as I saw him once as a ghost. Anyway I always enjoy seeing and hearing the Ultra Violets.

I truley satisfied even if only one person got joy from our music.

But Thank You All!

Hi, I finally had a chance to listen to your stuff. Its awsome!! I really liek your style! What do you play? Sing? How did you record the bass? what kinda bass? It sounds awsome on I hope you get there.

What do you use to record? Mics? Pre's?

Fender:
Man. It makes it all worth while when you're peers appreciate what you're doing.

Thank You Fender.

I play the drums and recording electronics. I can match pitch and stay in key, but singing's not my thing. My older brother Joshua is the vocalist, rhythm acoustic guitarist, and song writer.

The bass a Factor on most of the songs on our CD; with exception to I Hope You Get There, The Kiss, and one other which was done of a $400US Ibanez fretless.

The amp was a tube SWR bass head and SWR Goliath II 4x10 w/bullet bass cab.

The cab was miked in a rather large iso-booth (extremely dead) with an ATM25 about 1' in front of the top right speaker and a C1000 about 3' away.

Those were mixed to one track and used a Stewart ADB-1 active DI for another track.

The recording was done on 2 ADAT-XTs through a Mackie SR24-4. 2 old version AKG C1000s were used on just about everything the toms, bass drum, snare, hats, and ride.

I could go into more detail about the other stuff if you'd like, but I have to say it wasn't a very good approach. We're lucky we got the sound we did.
