HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That IS funny. Buying a router table made by companys is a waste of money.
I build my own. Easy. Accurate. Solid. Cheap. I have 3 of them, set up for different applications, or sometimes to machine 5pc panels. Cope&stick, edge, and raised panel cuts ,among other things.

That has gotta be a classic!! I was rolling on the floor over his descriptions. I've tried a couple of router tables like those before deciding I could build my own cheaper, and better, and he hit the nails all squarely in his descriptions of their usefulness.

My current router table resides in the extension of my table saw, so I can use the table saw fence for stability.

Thanks for the link. That made my day much lighter.

We have two router tables, one built into a bench, and one built into the table saw, both of which use the inserts you can buy at just about any good woodworking store, and neither of which get used much since we go our Grizzly Shaper, which has a router shaft so that we can use IT as a router table. The bearings in that thing are so much more stable than in any router out there, that is just makes more sense to use the shaper. Cleaner cuts, faster feed speeds, and just all around better. Why waste money on a POS like that one when you can buy something which works.

Hello Light, I'd love to have a shaper for heavy duty machining, but for simple panel rabits and dados, edge work and other small jobs, especially if you have 2 or 3 sequential cuts, little router tables are fantastic. I have 3 of them set up where they fold away under my radial arm extentions. The extentions gives me a table for large piles of same parts, to move to the next operation. Well, back to woodworking(for the studio today!!!):D

I use the one on our table saw for some of my non-guitar projects (I like to make most of my furniture), but with the router spindle for the shaper, you have access to all of the router bits you can use in your router table, just with more power behind it, and with more stable bearings.
