I recently came across a problem with Cubase where the only way I could get playback/sound is if I ran my monitors out of my mixer, not my soundcard, which left my soundcard unused (except for MIDI, but I haven't done much yet). So, after a little thinking, I came up with an idea to get sound from both my computer (through my M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard) and my mixer (Phonic Helix Board 12 Firewire). I'm 100% going w/ a pair of KRK RP6 monitors, and they have RCA, 1/4", and XLR inputs. But now, since the RP6's have both RCA and 1/4" inputs, I thought of an idea: I could run the 1/4" from the mixer and the RCA from the soundcard so I can get sound from both.
Would this work?...I'd love some opinions and idea. I made a picture to illustrate my idea, just keep in mind the one monitor is representing a pair of monitors, not a single monitor. Hopefully this will work, and I can get sound 100% of the time without leaving my mixer on when it isn't being used.
