I need to run a snake and other wiring from the control room to the tracking room. Seems like my only option is to run it through the walls, but I want to preserve as much isolation between the two rooms as possible.

I have a double wall system between the two rooms. Any ideas?

Maybe some wall panels with XLR,1/4" whatever you need? It's more work and more money, but should be better than just ramming a snake through your wall somewhere.

Yeah I agree with the wall panel method. More work but much cleaner and beter iso.

This idea appeals to me as well. Is there anything special you do behind the panel to lessen sound transmission through the wall? Foam etc?

Sure- I bet something would help. I would maybe build a box in the wall for the panel to sit in, to keep dust down and make it easy to remove for repairs/mods, run my multicore into it, and seal the thing with silicone. Or, put some of that stick-on foam weatherstripping around the back edge and just screw it to the wall, into suitable support. I bet the regular studs will keep most of the sound down, as long as the holes for the multicore aren't to big.

I bet a minimum effort will keep the level the same as if it weren't there. :)

Indeed, that's pretty much how I did mine and there's no leakage at all.

Yes, offset the holes by a few stud widths. That is, pass the wire into the wall, then run it inside the wall for 2 to 5 feet left or right, then come out the other side. And seal and caulk too, of course.
