I have a problm iwas wonderin if anyone can help me with. Its more of a computer problem but who knows. I just installed the RPC-1 card on a new computer, loaded it up and did the install new hardware thing and all that stuff. The problem is that now the little speaker that pops up in the task bar doesn't pop upnw. So that means i have no sound of an kind going to anything. Does anyone know why this has happened and how to fix this? I need help bad

Try this:

The RPC-1 IS more or less a sound card, when used with something like the VM3100 you have the ability to exchange 8 tracks of digital audio. Sounds like maybe your original sound card is disabled (unless for some reason you uninstalled it). Try going into device manager and look at device usage, it should not be disabled, it should exist in all hardware profiles.

If it is enabled go into control panel, then into sound and audio devices and then hardware and then double click on your original sound card to bring up its properties. Now click on the properties tab then the audio mixer and now you can select whether or not to use the mixer (this is the speaker icon your referring to).

Keep in mind different versions of Windows have different control panel listings so the above may be somewhat different for you. The above steps will work for 2000 and XP, however, 95/98 and ME are a bit different.

Let me know if that works for you.

Stray, this din't work either. All the sound is going to the right places, i just is not leaving my computer. When i play a CD or something and open the mixer for the RPC-1, all the meters are bouncng and all that. It's just that for some reasonthe computer isn't loading up any sound devices or something. Normally this is the first thing it loads up (you knowhow you get the speaker there in the task bar?) it is not ding it for some reason. I haveha other problems with this card also before. I took it off my other computer and onto this one so i could have a computer dedicated to recording and now i got this prblem. o by the way i am using ME if this helps or not. Either way though, THANK YOU for your help and futurehep of anyone who can help me

Did you try the second step (second paragraph in my last post)? If so, how was the audio mixer configured in control panel? Was use the device selected? Check on that again and let me know how it's configured.

If you've had problems with this card in the past is it possibly a driver related issue? Find out the name of the manufacturer of the card and then download a Windows ME driver for it, maybe they've updated the file. After you've downloaded the driver go into device manager and update the driver for the sound card.

If you can't find the name of the manufacturer then just uninstall the card in device manager and then reboot. Upon reboot the card will be reinstalled (providing there is nothing wrong with the driver) and all settings will be restored to default, you'll have the speaker icon and the card will be set up as the default audio device.

With or without that sound card working the RPC-1 should still function, it has nothing to do with the speaker icon in the system tray. Are you getting any output from the RPC-1? What are you using it with? I'm assuming the VM-3100. I can tell you for sure that if you're playing a CD on your PC it will not be output to the RPC-1. You'd have to take the output of the sound card and connect it to an input channel on the VM3100 in order to hear the CD. This is the same for any Windows based media players or editors with the exception of Logic RPC, providing you are using the VM3100.

Just as a test import an audio file into Logic and see if you get any output from the VM3100. If not, try raising the BUS 1/2 fader and/or the master fader. You should now hear the audio file played back through the RPC-1 card and the VM3100.

Hope this helps.

The RBUS card doesn't use the windows mixer. It uses it's own driver.

Tex, who said that it did?

Tex, who said that it did?

It seemed that the original poster was under that impression. Sorry for interrupting. Carry on, as you were.

Tex, no harm done and no need to apologize. Your advice and suggestions are more than welcomed. I just thought you were referring to incorrect information I was giving and I just wanted to point out that wasn't the case.
